Welcome To

vegan retreat

Vegan Retreat offers lifestyle change support for individuals and small groups seeking to transition from the unhealthy meat and dairy based diet to the healthful plant based diet. This is accomplished through individual counseling sessions by appointment, and monthly Zoom meetings on a variety of topics, as well as meetings for small groups.

Individual Counseling sessions provide support to individuals seeking to transition to the healthful plant based diet. This is accomplished in a loving, non judgemental environment with listening, support, dialogue, ideas, education, and suggestions. The client can ease into a new lifestyle with minimum stress and maximum enlightenment.

Zoom lecture topics include Health Education, Reversing Diabetes, Cancer Causes and Prevention, Healthy Heart, Natural Pain Management, Weight Loss Naturally, Raw Food, Personal Wellbeing, Understanding Zoonotic Disease, Plant Based Food Preparation, Organic vs. Veganic, Sustainable Agriculture, Detox, The Lymphatic System, Hormones and Balance, The Body’s Need for Water, Animal Agriculture - Its Implications for Human Health and the Environment, and many others.

In person meetings for small groups will be held at The Rabbit Hole, a small vegan restaurant in Pompano Beach, Florida.

“If you are aiming to improve your health, eating habits are the place to start. Getting from the not-so-healthy diets to a diet that will truly support your health can feel like trying to cross a rushing stream. Sharon Wallenberg will get you there. She knows all the stepping stones that will make it easy to reach not just a healthy diet, but an optimal lifestyle. A pant-based lifestyle can help you lose weight, lower cholesterol and blood pressure, reverse diabetes, and other serious conditions. If you have been struggling with health challenges, a plant-based lifestyle is nothing short of life-changing.” Neal D. Barnard, MD, President, Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine

A vegan diet has been demonstrated to prevent and reverse heart disease, prevent and treat cancer, and prevent and reverse diabetes. A plant-based diet is sustainable globally versus the meat-based diet, which is a major contributing factor to pandemics, climate change, and is wasteful of scarce resources, such as land and water.

Zoonotic diseases, the cause of most epidemics and pandemics, are caused by use of animals for consumption and traditional medicine. A pathogen jumps, or “spills over”, from animals to humans. Infections are then transmitted directly among humans. Examples include Covid-19, Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), Ebola virus, SARS, MERS, Swine Flu, and Avian Flu, among many, many others. Zoonoses have caused the deadliest pandemics in history: Black Death, Spanish Flu, HIV, and Covid-19.

The meat-based diet is unsustainable globally and is wasteful of scarce resources, such as land and water. It takes 2,500 gallons of water to produce a pound of beef, but only 25 to produce a pound of wheat. Animals raised for food are the leading cause of greenhouse gas emissions according to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) reports. Methane from livestock production traps heat in the atmosphere many more times effectively than carbon dioxide from transportation.

In addition, livestock production is one of the largest sources of environmental pollution in the developed world. Animals raised for food in the United States produce 130 times more excrement than the entire population does (86,000 pounds per second), but without the sewage system. Run off from factory farms pollutes rivers and lakes more than all other industrial sources combined. Factory farmed animals lead lives of misery and are slaughtered in horrific ways that would appall any compassionate person.

Veganic Agriculture

Veganic is better than organic. Veganic farms follow many of the same protocols as organic farms, but go a step further in that it does not use manures or other animal by-products from factory farms or slaughterhouses as organic farming does. Veganic agriculture relies on crop rotation, and creative use of green manures, plowed under cover crops, and veganic compost for soil fertility. For pest management it relies heavily on soaps and ashes rather than the toxic poison pesticides of conventional agriculture, and the natural toxic poisons that organic agriculture uses. Organic agriculture uses manure from slaughterhouses for ‘organic’ animals.

United Nations Convention Against Speciesism

Vegan Retreat and Vegan International seek to make the world a better place by improving human health through education and diet change, attempting to avert future epidemics and pandemics by a United Nations Convention Against Speciesism, and improving the changing climate conditions on the planet by discouraging meat and dairy consumption. This has social justice and prosperity for all implications, since the world’s scarce resources are squandered on the rich while the world’s poor suffer shortages, and the economic burden of skyrocketing health care costs from the devastating global impact of the meat and dairy based diet.

The Vegan Retreat seeks to further world peace by promoting peace on all levels starting with showing kindness and compassion to all sentient beings and promote optimal human health and well-being. All are welcome.
